Development on Track

Tuesday, 31 May 2011

Today is a public holiday in Brunei in commomeration with the Birthday of Brunei's Army. Enjoy your holiday Brunei people! Anyway, Rania had another visit by her community nurse, Nurse Vivian. As usual, I was asked about her development so far. She is on track with everything! What can she do now? She can crawl a little bit, but still need a lot of practice. She likes to play bubbles and raspberries. She understands peek-a-boo game too. Apart from that, she is now expert holding her own bottles too. Latest, Rania also tried to stand by holding on to big furnitures or couch in front of her. Caught her a couple of times doing this. Yeay!

Her current weight now is 5.84kg and ength of 64cm. Nurse Vivian said she needs to gain more weight as she is slightly lower than other babies her age.  The next plan is to start taking some meat in her diet, that includes mince chicken and beef. Exciting!

Project Runaway

Monday, 30 May 2011

Do you know the program called Project Runaway? Myself and Grandma are up to something fun these days! Grandma just bought her new gadget, a Singer Overlocker. It was her dream to buy that machine! Got it for her as a gift for mother's day and belated birthday gift too. She really deserve that gift after all she has done for me here in Brisbane.

Back to our project matter, we are going to make her Baju Kurong and a dress. Grandma will be in-charged of making the patterns, and sewing the actual Baju. My job will be to put on some beads on them. I never actually put beads on any my own clothes before, I guess this is kinda experimental for me! There are plenty of designs that I can follow online too. Will see how it goes!

RBWH Wall of Honour

Wednesday, 18 May 2011

In my last year's blog post, I talked about a Royal Mum Honour Wall put up at one of the hall in the Royal Brisbane Women Hospital. This Honour wall consists of all Mum that had their baby at the RBWH. The lists are updated every December each year. I was very excited to see that my name was already in the lists too. Yeay! The year at the end of our names, simply means the year that we had our baby at the hospital.

A Walk at Roma Street Parkland

Tuesday, 17 May 2011

My first year PhD confirmation is coming very soon. This is compulsory for all research students. Been busy trying to read all the relevant articles. I have to prepare 40 pages of robust literature review as well as a 30 minutes presentation. Should I be scared? I try not to!! Hehe. Talked to other people who has done it too. Some advices were just to keep myself updated with all the available research papers available in my field of work. Sounds fun isn't? Hehe.

Anyway, in need of some time out and relaxing walk! I've always wanted to go solo walk to Roma Street Parkland. It was my first time to go there too. The scenery was very beautiful and I took a couple of photos of some of the areas. The location of this park is actually not that far from our home, just a couple of stops. My husband love gardening so much too, I think he will also love to see this place.

Shopping Adventure

Sunday, 15 May 2011

Today our Princess Rania went for a little bus adventure to Westfield Shopping Mall at Chermside. It was actually the first time for Grandma to use bus to go to Chermside. She said it was not that tiring because the stop was quite close to the Mall itself. As for Princess Rania, she really enjoy shopping too because she got a lot of things to see around her. Currently, it is very cold in Brisbane. Mommy and Grandma bought her cute sweater for her to wear at home as well as for going out too. We were actually very lucky because some of the big shops were on sale! As for me, I found a Superbaby T-shirt for Princess Rania too, very cute! I wonder when she can wear them.

Her looks before shopping.. Mommy, buy me lots of clothes and new toys! Hehe

I Love Books

Saturday, 14 May 2011

Princess Rania's 31st Blogpot;

It has been a while since my last post! I have been busy trying to learn so many things such as talking. crawling, etc. As you can see, I'm a very busy baby :p Anyway, ever since I was in the hospital, my Mommy and Daddy loves to read me books in malay or english. I still love books until now because Mommy and Grandma always read simple books to me. Right now I'm learning colours and alphabet. It is very challenging but interesting!

Solids

Thursday, 12 May 2011

It has been 2 months since Rania started taking solids. She loves them very much! Initially, she can only take a little bit of rice porridge. As time goes, we have started to give her some mixed vegetables and fruits. She love bitter vegetables more than sweet ones. But once in a while we gave her a little bit of crushed sweet pears and bananas. Her favourite solids is still warm rice porridge. Rania is currently taking solids about three times per day. But on top of that she still loves her warm milk!

New Tooth :)

Thursday, 12 May 2011

Exciting news! Princess Rania has two first teeth emerging on her lower jaw. Yeay! We can actually see them  everytime she smiles or laugh. Because of that she had a little increased body temperature. She feels more comfortable when she is able to nibble on something especially her toys, books or rusks. Bought her some teething rusks from Woolworth especially for soothing her tender gums. She seemed to love them very much too.

Learning to Sit

Tuesday, 10 May 2011

Princess Rania has started to learn new motor skills. She is currently 5.5kg and her age based on her due date is 6 months and 3 weeks. Her latest exciting activity is learning to sit while playing with her toys and reading books. She is getting much better everyday. Our little Princess used both of her hands as support while trying to sit. She looks cute when she does that! Apart from that, our little Princess also started to learn crawling. Right now, she can crawled backwards just a little bit. Soon, she will be able to master it! Yeay!

Gifts From Wawa and Nini Saba

Sunday, 8 May 2011

While Wawa and Nini Saba were here last March, Rania received very special gifts from the both of them. Both gifts are useful for her to learn to start walking. At the moment, her legs are quite strong already to stand with support, of course. She is learning! Thank you for all the wonderful gifts. She really love them, she play with them almost everyday!

Rania's Development to date

Tuesday, 3 May 2011

Based on her due date, as of today, Rania is now 6 months and 2 weeks. She is growing very steadily and getting more responsive to her surrounding. She can do a lot of things now! Current weight is 5.4Kg.

At around, 5 months and 1 week, she was already a rolling pro. It is now very challenging to change her nappy because she likes to roll to her left or right to grab anything that she can see. Rania love to bite anything that she likes too, especially bright toys. That is why we have to watch her really carefully. Her favourite snack now is baby bites.

Rania is also a feeding pro now. She already started on rice porridge and Heinz crushed veges and fruits. Rania seemed to like bitter things than sweet things. Rania also started to show authority to all her belongings, when people start to touch or play around with her toys, she will get a little upset sometimes. Mommy is not an exception! Ocassionally, we also caught her waving good bye when we were about to go out the door.

What is interesting is that, about a week a go, she is able to sit on her own with her hands as her support. The longest that she can do is about 1 minute! Not bad! Soon, she will be able to sit on her own, looks like! Yeay!

Overall, she is progressing very well. Mommy and daddy so proud of you little Princess!!

Finally, we had succesfully organized the Mandi Berlawat Event for Princess Rania. Mandi Berlawat is an event for those who had their first daugther or son. Princess Rania had her special event on the 4th of April while we were in Brunei. Everything was running very smoothly with support from neighbour, friends and families, it was full house! We have started organizing the event while we were in Australia. Below are photos taken by our professional photographer by Brunei Wedding (Abd Hamid and Co.).

Visit to Mommy's Lab

Sunday, 10 April 2011

One week before Princess Rania and her daddy left for Brunei, I brought her to see my supervisors and friends at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. It was a nice and sweet gathering! We bought a couple of traditional dishes for them to try to. Took a couple of photos. Rania was a very good girl and that everyone had a chance to cuddle her.

Family Visit from Brunei

Saturday, 1 April 2011

Last March, we had very special guests from Brunei. There are Rania's uncle and Auntie with their 3 young kids my parents-in law also came to see us here in Brisbane. It was a very packed holiday for them as they only stayed in Brisbane for about 8 days. But we had a very wonderful time together. We managed to bring them to a couple of attractions including, Warner Bros Theme Park, Wet and Wild and Sea World. Apart from that they also went to Australia Zoo to see Australia's favourite animals, koala and kangaroos. They also went shopping at various places including Westfield Garden City, Chermside, Hyperdome and Harbour Town. Below are collections of photos that we took during their trip. It was fun! I hope they will come again next year, so that we all can go to Dreamworld and White Water Park.

It was also the first time for Princess Rania to go to Gold Coast and some of the further shopping areas. She seemed to enjoy being with lots of people around too. As you can imagine, we have been very busy lately too, entertaining our special guests and preparing our stuffs to bring back to Brunei as well as preparation for Rania's thanksgiving ceremony (Majlis Bedikir). Hope you enjoy the photos below! Message from Princess Rania: ' Dear Wawa and Family, Nini Bini and Nini Laki Kg Ayer, please do come and visit me again! Next year, I will be able to start walking and running, which means more fun! Thanks a lot for visiting me and Mommy!'

Starting on Solids

Friday, 11 March 2011

Two days ago, Rania had another appointment with her Paediatrician, Dr Dore. He was very happy with how our little girl is growing and progressing at home. He adviced that our little princess to start on a bit of solid meals. Exciting!! Dr Dore adviced that Rania should start with a bit of rice, about a small spoon full per day for 3 days before trying out on other meals.

At her first bite, she made some funny and wierd looking faces. It was like she was saying to me "What is that Mommy, taste funny! But I want to try more!" Hehehe... The plan is to start her on plain porridge, followed by chopped vegetables thenon some fruits, a bit later. Rania's corrected age is actually about 5 months old. One of the reasons for her to start solids early is because to reduce chances of getting food allergy. She is taking it just fine!! Well done Princess!! Mommy and Daddy so proud of you!!

A pose at the clinic, while waiting to be called.

Meet Jumbo

Wednesday, 2 March 2010

Our little princess has been very active lately. She really enjoys seeing and doing new things. Latest, she loves to laugh more, to be picked up more and be walked around the apartment and especially the balcony area. There are not many things to see inside our apartment, that's why she likes to stay outside. I tried to keep her entertain inside the apartment so i bought her some new colourful toys and books to see and enjoy. We like to encourage her to continue develop her ability to learn new things. Colourful stuffs can stimulate her brain cells development, the books say.

The latest fun stuff that she has added to her collection is Mr Jumbo. If you see the photo, you know why this toy is called Mr Jumbo. Hehe. It is not just a normal toy for her to see and touch. Our Princess Rania can actually sit inside it and play with the some small toys around her, which is part of Mr Jumbo. When I took this photo, she looked really happy that she gave Mommy a cute adorable little smile while biting her little fingers. Mr Jumbo seemed to be posing for the camera too. Hehe.

Headbands and Flowers

Saturday, 26 February 2011

Headbands and Flowers for babies are becoming a trend lately. I went for a search for nice ones in the Brisbane city center last week but I just couldn't get hold of the nice ones. You can also get some really nice ones in facebook sold buy some local companies in Brunei. But I think I prefer to get it here from Brisbane, so that I can let her wear them right away! I manage to get a couple of cute and pretty ones online! And it is hand-made by a very skill-full Australian lady. Here are some photos of our little model trying out her new headbands and flowers too. I'm also going to request for the shop to custom-made one for Rania's special ceremony back home in Brunei.

Happy National Day Brunei

Wednesday, 23 February 2011

Today, my beloved country, Brunei is celebrating its 27th National Day. On this day, there is a big gathering of all the civil servants, private companies and students in the city of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan. Everyone is dressed up in their special uniforms, parading in front of our beloved ruler, the Sultan. I remember in my childhood, i was part of the Girl Guide Association and took part in the National Day parade.

After so long not being part of the parade, two years ago, i decided to join the line up again with my colleagues from Universiti Brunei Darussalam. It was hard work because of all the rehearsals that we have to attend. It was quite fun because they taught us simple dances and to be performed infront of the Sultan on the National day. I really missed those times so much!!

Below is the closest photo of me being patriotic for our country.  It is a photo of me with some of my Brunei friends here in Brisbane with our national flag in the background. Though we are far from our Brunei land, we are always close at heart. Happy 27th National Day to all Bruneians and to all friends and family in Brunei, enjoy your holiday today!!
