Her 1st Year Birthday Celebration

Welcome Back DPMM FC

Friday, 16 December 2011

I just heard great news that Brunei's national football team, DPMM FC will be back in action next year! They missed the whole year of football matches last year due to some issues, which I believed now has been resolved! Yeay! I will not be able to watch the matches though because I am still studying here in Australia. But I will continously give them moral support from here. I am sure DPMM FC have a lot of fans on Facebook, that will keep me updated all the time! I have a couple of photos that I took in some of the matches that I went 2 years ago. 2 years ago DPMM FC became champion of the S-League 2009, hubby and I manage to catch a photo with the trophy and one of the player too, Sairol Sahari. Good Luck DPMM FC! I hope you will do well in the upcoming Singapore League! We will support you all the way.

My Princess in Tudong

Sunday, 11th December 2011

Today Rania became a young tudong model. My family back home sent me photos of her in various types of tudong style. Its really funny how she seemed like posing to the camera too.

Happy Feet

Thursday, 8th December 2011

In just two days, Rania able to take more and more steps. I guess she was getting excited on the idea of walking on her own. She is now brave enough to let go and walk on her own. She can do about 9 steps the most! Keep training Princess! Most of the walking traning came from Daddy Rania and Uncle Alwis. who is very patient to teach her to hold her hands around while practicing to walk!

First Step Ever

Tuesday, 6th December 2011

Today, Rania had another great achievement! She took her first step ever! Yeay! I was really excited to be able to see it with my own eyes too. Really proud of her! I didnt manage to take any video, because it happened so fast! But I know she was trying really hard for it and she did it finally!

Baby Walker Expert

Saturday, 3rd December 2011

As for us. we decide not to let her use the sitting type of baby walker, as her physiotherapist advice because its not good for premature baby like her. But we are encourage to train her to use the standing form of baby walker too.

We were just trying to see whether she is able to walk using the baby walker (the walking type, not the sitting type). I was so surprised that she actually did it! My whole family was very excited about it. It was so funny, the first time she tried it, she was smiling at us and went really really fast! This is a good sign! Yeay!

Feeling Under the Weather

Monday, 28th November 2011

Rania was unwell for almost a week. We were getting worried that she was unable to take much in any fluids and solids foods too. She got a bit of temperature too, we decided to take her to the Jerudong Park Medical Center for a check up. The doctor decide that she needs to be hospitalized in order to monitor her condition. She was given nasal oxygen to help her feed and sleep better. I was really worried about her too that I have decide to come back to Brunei to see her then.

She was improving slowly for the next couple of days and she was let off oxygen after a week on it again. And went home the next day. So glad that she has started to take foods slowly too. I hope that she will gain back her weight that she lost while she was sick. My family said when toddler are sick at this age, they probably have 'something' that there are learning to do that they will be able to do, like walking or growing teeth etc. Yes indeed, she has a lot of teeth including molar ones at the back! Walking? Slowly getting there, she is able to stand without holding anything for a few seconds.

Walking Skills

Tuesday, 15 November 2011

As of today, Rania is now 1 year 4 weeks old corrected age. Our little has made a lot of progress in intelectually and also physical movement. She now understand basic instruction like asking for food to eat by saying 'mum' and called her Uncle as 'Ngangah' (which means uncle in Malay). Below are some interesting videos of her! Enjoy them!

Our Hari Raya Styles

Monday, 5th September 2011

This year Eid is very special for me and my husband, because we have our lovely daughter to celebrate with. One thing I really wanted to do is to wear same colour of Baju Kurong and Baju Melayu for my husband. Took photos of the various Hari Raya collections that we have this year. All of it are my favourite, I especially love seeing my daughter in Baju Kurong. She doesn't complain at all, she looks comfortable and can sleep in it. All of these clothes that we wore were custom-made from different places of tailor shops. Sadly, today is my last here in Brunei to celebrate eid with my family. I really dont want to go, but my work is calling me! Planning to come back during a long break in December, my daughter probably able to walk too around that time.

http://hariz9511.blogspot.com/2011/08/selamat-hari-raya-aidilfitri.html

Today was another exciting day for our family. After a whole month of fasting, it was time for the moon-sighting for the Eid celebration. After so many years, this year the moon was sighted! Eid thus falls on the 1st of September 2011. This year is a very special her for us because it will be the first time for our Princess Rania to celebrate Eid with us! Can't wait to dress her up in pretty Baju Kurong (traditional dress for Bruneian girls or ladies). Before I go, we would like to wish you Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin.

Sea Treasures

Wednesday, 31st August 2011

Today me and my husband brought Rania to the water village to see her other grandma there. She was very brave today and looked like she enjoyed the bumpy boat ride. It was also a bonus for her to see the various kind of 'sea treasures'! I'm not talking about gold or diamonds, I'm talking about interesting seafood that we can eat! I myself personally love prawns and some types of fish. My father in-law just got back from fishing somewhere in the Brunei sea and brought back a lot of prawns for him to sell. It was a very productive caught too! Before he sell them at the fish market, he would seperate them based on their sizes because the price would be different. Income from selling different kinds of seafood is very good too. When Rania grow up, I hope she will be hardworking like both of Grandpas and able to stand on her own. When you work hard, you'll earn more and live happilly. Just a simple saying but means a lot!

Sleep time

Tuesday, 30th August 2011

Take a look at Rania during her sleeping time! Which one is your favourite? :)

Halal chicken and beef for Rania

Thursday, 25th August 2011

Today was our last day to shop before we go back to Brunei for Eid tonight! Yeay! It was also means our last day to do last minute shopping too! One of our main aim was to get yummy baby foods for princess Rania. We went to Woolworth to look for some and we found some interesting baby food types. We found one which has halal label on their package too. Some of them contains contains mashed chicken cooked with tomato sauce pasta, yummy shepherd pies which has lamb in it! We were so lucky to have found these for Princess Rania to try out. Aparently, you wont be able to find this brand back in Brunei. So we have to stock up lots!

We are trying to give her more meaty food to help her gain more weight. Her last weighing was actually close to 7 kilos. But babies at her age right now, should be weighing about 8 kilos. But her paediatric said there was nothing to worry about because she started small and also she is an Asian baby. Despite that, we still hope that she could gain a little bit more weight so that she looks more chubby and healthier baby.

First Year Confirmation Talk

Monday, 21st August 2011

Today I gave a very important presentation as part of my PhD. It is my confirmation seminar so that I can enter into my 2nd year of PhD. The aim of this presentation was to show that I understand what my research is all about and also know what my plans are for my whole PhD. As part of this, I also have to send in 40 pages literature review of my PhD project. I was very nervous but I think it went fine. I got a lot of feedback on my review on how to improve. The next plan was for me to write up in greater details my actual projects experiments that I need to do and show this to the committee in November. That will be a good practice for me to improve on my writing and literature reading skills too.

Ekka in Brisbane 2011

Saturday, 20 August 2011

Ekka is a yearly event in Brisbane calendar, organized every August. What is it about? Ekka consists of attractions such as rides, games to win stuffed toys, performances by Australian artists, selling well knownmerchandises and chocolates at cheaper price etc. We went last year and had great time. This year we didnt want to miss it for the world! Our main objective was to win a big stuffed toy for Princess Rania.

We managed to win big Elmo for her! My husband did the work, I just cheered and gave him motivation. I think the game was pretty difficult, but my husband knows the technique very well.

I also bought Rania's Dora the Explorer merchandises too which includes travel bag, bag pack, umbrella etc all for $25.

Science Week at QIMR

Thursday, 16th August 2011

Recently QIMR (my lab where I work) held a science week. Several activities were organized during that week. My colleagues and I recently joined a Science Trivia games, we manage to get 4th out of 8th place. I think we did pretty good. Honestly, the question was quite hard for me! I didnt know any of the answer hehe.. But at least I learn something and general knowledge that night too. We called our team the 'Iron Man' because we are from the iron metabolism research group.

Another activity was Science cake stall. People in the labs were invited to bake anything they want to represent 'Science' theme. They were many creative designs of cake and cupcakes too. I also joined in, I made small ginger bread men in white and blue lab coats. Blue lab coats represents those working  with radioactive. Too photos of the various stuffs baked by the people in the lab.

First Keyboard

Saturday, 13th August 2011

Guess what?! Rania just received a gift from her Uncle Zul, her first keyboard! Wow! Rania is turning into a young musician. It is mommy's dream to see her able to play an instrument. Hope to be able to send her to music school and learn to play professionally. I hope when she grow up, she will be a piano expert and can play music for Mommy and Daddy. Yeay! She just loves to press the keyboard keys to hear any sort of sound! Take a look at her photo above, looking like a serious musician! I really miss her at this moment.. Wish I can hug and play keyboard with her!

Dinner with some IHS students

Friday, 12th of August 2011

Last night, I managed to catch up with the students that are currently studying at the Queensland medical school ( which is very close to my lab).  There are Andrew, Jeh Wen and Pey Wen. Had a nice italian foods dinner with them at the South Bank of Brisbane City. We had some nice italians pizzas and lasagnas from Amici's restaurant too. They seemed to be coping really well with their study and work attachment too. It was nice being able to talk to them. Hope to see them again in the future.

All the way from Singapore

Friday, 5th August 2011

Uncle Alwis and Auntie Sija recently went to Singapore for a bit. Both of them bought special gifts for Princess Rania. Guess what, Rania got a cute Dora backpack, a water bottle and inflatable bowl. Rania loves Dora the Explorer so much, she can recognize the music from that cartoon and also the characters. These are very useful gifts for Rania indeed for her while on the move. Since, the festive season is also coming up pretty soon. She is now taking breakfast, dinner and lunch like adults do! Thanks Uncle Alwis and Auntie Sija for the wonderful gifts for Rania!

Rania's First Bday Celebration

Sunday, 31st July 2011

The initial plan was for my parents and Rania to go by themselves back to Brunei. However, at the last minute I decided to come along to help her settle her stuffs back home. My husband didnt know I was coming back, he was very surprised to see me at the airport. But I'm glad that I could see my other family members too. Rania's birthday was on the 8th of July 2011. At the last minute, we've decided to organize her party at our place in Jerudong. It was a last minute plan, that everything was done in a rush. But so happy that we manage to get Sugarban to cater our event too. We have special guess coming to her party too, Barney! Sugarban also organize some games as part of the birthday party package. We managed to pull it off! Rania got lots of gifts and toys from her cousins, lucky girl! Thanks to family who came to our event and also for all her wonderful gifts.

Friday, 8 July 2011

Assalamualaikum everyone!

Its Princess Rania here. How is everyone doing? Mum has been updating all the posts for me in this blog. I haven't been writing. I'm such a busy person nowadays, as you can you, I'm busy crawling around the apartment. Grabbing every single things that I see, especially colourful ones. Life has been wonderful since I'm able to crawl. My latest favourite thing is to grab hold of big furnitures and trying to stand up high! Hehe. Don't worry, my Mommy, Grandpa and Grandma always there to grab me, as I'm still a little wobbly.

Do you know what day is it today? Yes, its Friday, but something special is going on today. It's my birthday today! Happy Birthday to me~~ Hehe. I'm one as of today. I can't believe it. But corrected I'm still 9 months. My latest weight check is about 6.2Kg. Not much is planned for me today, because daddy is not around to celebrate with me. I played dress up in my new blue gowns and also bright pink party hat! I had Mr Teddy, Sharky, Brown Rabbit, Pink Rabbit, Pinky Hippo and all the other toys to celebrate with me. It was a lot of fun!

Facetime

Friday, 1st July 2011

Facetime has been a great method to stay connected with our family in Brunei. It is a type of video call only available using your Apple iphone. Princess Rania also enjoyed facetiming with Daddy, Wawa and Irings too. Thanks to modern technology, way to stay connected is more fun nowadays!

How You Doin'

Saturday, 25 June 2011

This is one of Rania's favourite pose in a picture. I took this photo while she was shopping, she looked very serious in this photo too. What do you think? Cute is'nt :). The second photo is taken from my iphone. Actually it is from a video that I took, her Auntie Sija send this photo took me with the title a ' One Million Dollar Smile'. Hehe.

Safety First

Friday, 24 June 2011

Take a look at Rania's photo on the way to shopping! Whenever she is in the car, we make sure that she is safe and sound. Thanks to Wawa Miah and Uncle Zul for the car seat. They got it for her while she was in Brunei last April. A very useful gift indeed! She love it there too because it is very comfortable and cozy. She love to sleep in them too, at least she get a good rest before she can get busy window shopping. You must be wondering how she is at the shopping mall. Surprisingly, she really love looking at people and things! Sometimes she prefer to be picked up rather than sitting on her stroller, so that she can see things much easier. She seemed to have colour preference when we want to choose clothes for her. She love bright or light pink colour, just like mommy :).

Bon Voyage Wawa Miah

Sunday, 19 June 2011

Wawa Miah spent about 2 weeks here in Brisbane. It was fun having her around, Rania has extra someone to play with while I'm at Uni. We managed to go to so many places too. Her favourite place to shop is Target Chermside and Myers too. I think she can spend the whole day shopping there :P She spend a lot on clothes, socks, bags and Rania's toys! It was a good time for her to be here too because there's a big sale at some of the big shops here. Hope to see you again Wawa! Rania missed you a lot..

At Brisbane Airport

Bru-Brisbane Young Ladies

Sunday, 19th June 2011

On the same day, Wawa Miah left us, we had a farewell BBQ invitation organized by a couple of Bruneians families. They are actually leaving Australia for good as they have completed their studies. Congratulations to the following sisters, Shikin, Salina and Ejah for graduating this year! I hope I didnt miss anyone in the list. If I do, this congratulatory message goes to you too! Took a couple of photos during the BBQ. One photo was particularly special, it is the one by which Rania took a photo with a group of young Bruneian girls living in the same area with us. From the left, Kaka Dayna, Kaka Syaza and Kaka Anis. The last two girls parents are the ones who are studying here in Brisbane and also finishing this year. I actually always saw them playing at the park near to where we live. It is rather quiet now, since they have gone back to Brunei. I hope to see them in the future and Rania will be a bit older to, so that they can play together

Yuen's Seafood Market

Tuesday, 14 June 2011

My sister and I went for an adventure to Fortitude Valley, China Town. This area is just about 15 minutes by car from our apartment. But we went there by train, for the sake of advetnture and took us about 30 mins to get there. I was craving for some crab meat with tomato sauce made by my mom. Manage to get some big juicy crabs today from the Yuen's food market in China Town.
