Today, we have decided to have a Hari Raya celebration at our own home. We invited my mates and supervisors from work and other Bruneian friends staying at Kelvin Grove for a Hari Raya treat. It was fun!
Thanks to Ka Yati for the decoration props. So lovely of her lending the kits to us. Hubby brought some Hari Raya Cards from Brunei as part of our wall decorations. The main dish were laksa noodle, curry chicken, fried rice and other local cakes and bisuits like roll tapak kuda, roll kit kat, roll durian, roll arinbow, vico cake, popia, batang buruk and many more.
These are my mates and supervisors from work. Left to right of photo below - Cornel, Deepak, Brie & Sarah.
Mom and dad made a demonstration on how to prepare our Bruneian authentic delicacy "Ambuyat". They found it really interesting. Brie, my research team partner from the United State, thought it was pretty good, she said it was nothing like she'd ever tasted before. I'm glad they had so much fun. I had fun myself too!!!
We deliberately had a separate session with my collegues because i knew i wouldn't have time to entertain them when all the other guests are around. It was not long after they left that our other guests are coming.
We had some green packets for the kids too. I love kids!! Akim, one of our neighbours' kids said that he finally got a green packet for his Hari Raya in Brisbane. It is simply because this was his first Hari Raya's open house invitation he attended. Good for him! Ha Ha Ha..
