Later in the evening, little Princess had her first nuzzle (natural breast feeding) too!! She has natural baby instinct! She is too cute!!
Generally, babies who are 1200-1500 grams, 32-34 weeks gestation are good candidates for natural breastfeeding. Rania is 1482g and is 34 weeks gestation. The baby nurse was guiding me through on how to best hold little Princess while she learns this new skill!! For the first time nuzzle, the baby nurse said that we were doing pretty good actually. It is important to remember, this is more like “getting acquainted” session. To my surprise, little Princess didn't give me much trouble, instead she was actually liking it so much and amazingly even her breathing and heart rate was stable through out the feed. It was later that i discovered that research has shown that breastfeeding is actually easier than bottle feeding and the baby’s heart rate and breathing rate remain more stable while breastfeeding. And also that babies do not need to learn to bottle feed before beginning to breastfeed. In fact, it usually interferes with successful breastfeeding
