Her 1st Year Birthday Celebration

Her 1st Year Birthday Celebration

Full Feed & CPAP Level 8

Sunday, 15 August 2010

It has been 2 full days that our little Princess Rania is completely on CPAP. Before that she was on NIPPV for 8 days. She is one little strong fighter!! Mummy and Daddy are so proud of you Baby Princess!!

I have discovered that CPAP has different levels of pressure variables, highest being 9cmH2O and lowest being 5cmH2O. All our little Rania has to do is to slowly and steadily go down with the CPAP pressure. These variability will control the level of dependency any baby requires from the breathing machine. She is currently on level of pressure 8 cmH2O. The next step would be to lower her CPAP's pressure level down to level 7 eventually to 5 cmH2O. This simply means, as the level goes down, her lungs require less and less pressure from the machine to keep her lungs inflated, while controlling her breathing her own. This can only means good thing as her lungs is getting stronger and more mature to stay inflated on their own. Alhamdulillah!!

I really hope she will be at level 5 cmH2O soon because the next step after level 5 will be natural breathing. The Doctor said this could still be a long way to go for some baby, but with little Rania's progress, she'll be there in no time!

Great news, Rania's new weight is now 882 g compare to her previous weight of 846 g. Yippie!! Well done my little Princess! Starting today, the doctor also added some fortifier to her milk to help her gain more weight much faster. I'm looking forward on how much this fortifier is contributing to her next weight gain difference. Rania is no longer on any drip, she's now having 100% of breast milk! I can tell she is one happy baby! She is loving Mummy's milk!!
